Skin Deep Book Series

OPPORTUNITY

Design a conceptual series of book jackets selected from the Penguin Classics Collection.  

SOLUTION

This series acts as a warning to those who indulge in earthly ideas and desires and the danger of trying to hide those transgressions from others and even the individuals themselves. The objects that make up the hand drawn skulls reference the symbolism found within art historical vanitas paintings and reveal the fatal flaw of the character within the book. The color palette and typography was selected to reference Penguin Classic book covers from the 1950s.
